Ivan's New Solo Project - Ivato

Prior to Pinto and the Bean, Ivan was drumming for my solo music.  But when we decided to form this band, it became obvious to me that Ivan is an amazing songwriter too - one of the best I’ve personally met.  We've worked together musically for over 5 years, and right now, I’m ESPECIALLY proud of him.  Having watched him evolve tremendously as a musician over the years, he recently embarked on a solo project called Ivato

I V A T O

Please take a few moments and check out his website at www.ivatoivato.com.  Listen to his songs and let him know what you think of them.  I’ve watched Ivan work day and night to get these new tunes recorded and released and he’s got many more on the way.  Show him your support and love!

Musical Ghost In The House

There's a musical ghost in the house.

I've had this classical guitar since before I was born.  It was in my bedroom closet growing up, and well...here it is all busted.  I just woke up the other day and it was like that.  If there isn't a musical ghost in the house, then it was probably the heater that's blasting all night, and it loosened the wood and the strings snapped off.  Obviously, this has to be sent in.

Starscrapers

We were set on releasing 4 new demos to the public before the end of the year, and well, today is literally the very last day of the year, so here's the fourth song we're excited to share with you, called 'Starscrapers'.  If you missed out on any of the previous three songs we released, here they are - Better Off Alone, Breathing Underwater, and Life Safari.

We realize this new one, Starscrapers is not exactly the most chipper way to close out the year.  But we've never really been much the bubbly type of band anyway.  I think Ivan and I were both lost in some kind of twisted outer space floaty land when we wrote this one. I was in a dark 'Paul' mood (Ivan's not a fan of that mood - neither am I...but sometimes darker emotions are what end up being recorded in music).

We're still very proud of this tune, even if it isn't the happiest of our babies.  Listen to it on the Soundcloud player below, or just click on the link.

If you live in Chicago, we're performing at Quenchers, and super excited & grateful to be rockin the stage tonight with such talented acts.  Quenchers is a great time, music or no music; they've got over 300 varieties of beer and plenty of food to settle your munchies, so come to the party if you're still debating on what to do.

We hope you have an incredible New Year's Eve no matter what you do.  Stay safe, have fun, and kiss your drink if you don't have anyone to kiss at midnight.  I'm such a nerd.

Okay, here it is, Starscrapers.  Enjoy :-)

Rock The House With Us On NYE!

We're hoping you had a great holiday.  We spent time being super lazy the few days before and after Christmas. That's sort of the point of the holidays, right?  Ivan made pozole for a group of friends who devoured it.  Pozole is a traditional Mexican soup/stew, and Ivan is a master chef at making some amazing dishes.  That's just one of them.  My dog Truman got more gifts than anyone else in my family...interesting that the one who annoyingly barks, publicly humps, and secretly pees & poops in hidden places gets the most gifts too.

So, if you live in Chicago, we'd like to invite you to join us on New Years Eve at Quenchers.  This is one of our favorite bars/venues (actually it's the reason I moved to Chicago), so we're very grateful to have been invited to perform.  We haven't played a show in several months so we're stoked to rock our new tunes out for you, as well as some old ones.  We take the stage at 9pm, so get there early!  Here's a link with all the info and scroll to the bottom of this post for the flyer.  It's gonna be a party and a half, so please do some tequila shots with us, but don't get us too drunk!  Otherwise, Ivan puts on these red high heels, and dances with a lampshade over his head singing "Tequila"!  It's pretty embarassing.

If you haven't heard our new tunes btw, you can hear them at the following links:

Life Safari
Breathing Underwater
Better Off Alone

You can download these songs free when you join our maling list by clicking here.  Talk soon!

Life Safari

We'd like to share another tune with you tonight called Life Safari.

If you listened to the previous two songs we sent out in the past few weeks, you'll notice Life Safari is much different.  If you didn't hear our previous two demo releases, click here to check out Breathing Underwater and here to check out Better Off Alone.

We started writing Life Safari over a year ago, but we were never happy with what we had, so the song was thrown away for a while.  But then we decided to work on it again one day.  It's gone through multiple changes.  At one point, believe it or not, it even had an electronic beat.  So, what started off as a rock song, evolved over time into what you hear now, an African/tribal influenced tune that my mom thinks we stole from Paul Simon.  We really didn't, although we should take a listen to Graceland sometime.

So, here it is, Life Safari.  You can either play the Soundcloud player below, or just click on the link above it.  We're so stoked to rock out these new tunes at Quenchers on NYE!
